Past Productions: Drinking with Angelika

As part of the society's committment to supporting new talent, The Lynden Players presented Drinking with Angelika, a new musical play, directed by Jeannie Willis and produced by Mags Durham. The cast and crew were challenged to explore some difficult themes in bringing this sometimes dark and thought-provoking play to life. Our audiences were fantastic- embracing and enjoying something new and different. The show attracted some new members and also showcased the talents of some of our junior actors.

The play follows a group of strangers who mysteriously find themselves in a run-down bar in the middle of nowhere, on the coldest Christmas Eve since 1963. Questions arise about the reasons why they’ve been brought together, and why they cannot simply leave and return to their everyday lives. A businessman, a lorry driver, an army general, a drifter and a dance coach…each guarding a secret, a story, a confession.

As the shocking truths about their lives are revealed, and secrets thought buried forever are brought to the surface, each person is brought to account for one day in their lives by the three mysterious residents of the forgotten bar.
