The first meeting of the Lynden Players took place on 2 June 1975.
The existing Middleton Cheney Drama Group which was started by members of the W.I. was re-invented in 1975 to attract younger members and men who wished to act or help out backstage. This would allow the new group to tackle more ambitious projects.
The first production planned would be Aladdin, a traditional pantomime. Speaking about the launch of a brand new society for the village, founding member and panto director Pat Rix pointed out that the group's initials are The LP's and quipped:" We hope this also stands for 'Long Players'!"
Just forty-six years later, we are still here and delighted that Pat and other original members continue to be involved with the group and can explain to the youngsters what an LP is....
